(JCCPD)

JAMES CITY COUNTY — A 23-year-old James City County man wanted for violation of conditional release was arrested on multiple charges Wednesday after police responding to a call of a man making threats discovered firearms and suspected narcotics during a subsequent search.

According to the James City County Police Department, at approximately 12:15 p.m. on June 11, officers responded to a report of a male subject acting erratically and making threats to harm himself and others in the 700 block of Lee Drive.

While en route, officers were advised that the man, identified as 23-year-old Adonis Bellinger, was wanted on a capias issued by the Williamsburg-James City County Circuit Court for violation of conditional release related to charges of assault against a family member and strangulation.

On arrival, JCCPD said officers were allowed into the residence to de-escalate the situation and serve the outstanding warrant. While inside, police said they observed a firearm and drug paraphernalia in plain view. During a subsequent investigation, officers recovered a rifle and a shotgun with ammunition, multiple containers of suspected narcotics, and various paraphernalia and accessories consistent with drug distribution.

Bellinger was taken into custody without incident, police said. In addition to the capias, he has been charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana Over Four Ounces and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bellinger was transported to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. Additional charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation, the police department said.
