An upcoming instrument drive in will help put guitars, violins and other instruments into the hands of students who learn music and life skills through Soundscapes programs.
Remix Market and The Junkluggers in Williamsburg are teaming up to support Soundscapes through instrument collection drives and a portion of store sales.
Remix Market, a resale shop for furniture and home décor, works with The Junkluggers to resell used items and keep them out of landfills.
A portion of all sales will benefit Soundscapes, which provides free music education programs, including after-school instruction, community ensembles and summer camps focused on both musical training and personal development.
Instrument collection drives will be held at Remix Market on June 6, 13 and 20. Community members are invited to donate gently used woodwind, brass and string instruments for students. Drum kits and pianos will not be accepted due to storage limitations.
“With support from Remix Market and The Junkluggers, Soundscapes will continue making a difference in the lives of local students,” said Soundscapes Executive Director Carol Minter. “The instrument drives in particular will help us put instruments into the hands of students who otherwise might not have access.”
