WJCC Schools Approved for Army JROTC Program in Fall 2026

(US Army Junior ROTC)

WILLIAMSBURG – Williamsburg James City County Schools say they will establish an Army Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year, following approval from the United States Army Cadet Command.

All high school students will be eligible to enroll. The program will be housed at Jamestown High School.

“Introducing Army JROTC marks an important step in broadening leadership, academic, and career pathways for our students, responsive to community interest and our years-long efforts to host an ROTC unit,” said Daniel F. Keever, WJCC Schools Superintendent. “Through our partnership with U.S. Army Cadet Command, we are creating new opportunities for WJCC students to build skills that will serve them well in life after high school. The School Board and leadership team are excited to see this vital program get started in our school division.”

The curriculum will cover history, fitness and wellness, and workplace readiness skills, along with specialized leadership training. Students will participate in teamwork exercises and projects designed to prepare them for various career and educational paths after graduation. Participation in AJROTC does not commit a student to future military service.

Students who will be in high school next year (9th-12th grade in the 2026-2027 school year) may submit an Enrollment Request Form to their counselor by Friday, April 24, 2026.
