WILLIAMSBURG — Macaroni KID Richmond–Williamsburg-Hampton and Virginia Beach announced the return of its fifth annual Richmond–Williamsburg-Hampton and Virginia Beach.
In 2020, during the pandemic, Macaroni KID publisher Amy Johnson and her husband, Brad, launched the “Candy Cane Your Yard” initiative.
“The concept was simple, yet so magical,” says Johnson. “Seeing our children not be able to participate in long-standing family traditions during the pandemic, we knew we had to start a new tradition for our family and share it with others in our community by bringing just a little bit of Christmas magic during such a hard time for many!”
“We’ve been blessed to have such a great crew of elves that have helped us bring so much magic, joy and cheer to so many kid’s and families,” she added.
Five years on, the event has flourished, according to Macaroni KID. Each December, the team of Macaroni KID holiday elves works tirelessly from mid-December through Christmas Eve to transform yards into whimsical holiday displays, and this year, it promises “Candy Cane Your Yard” will be even more special — Santa himself will join the festivities!
This year, the elves will be working with parents to arrange a Santa sighting for their kids, right at home. Families who sign up for Candy Cane Your Yard can now request a Santa sighting, creating unforgettable memories for their children.
“We’re thrilled to bring this tradition back for its fifth year,” said Johnson. “Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter in the pictures and videos families share with us is the highlight of the season.”
Families interested in participating can reserve a spot now, but availability is limited. Visit the official Macaroni KID Candy Cane Your Yard page here to sign up today!
