NEWPORT NEWS — Christopher Newport University’s final football regular season game is moving up a day. The Captains will play the College of New Jersey at TowneBank Stadium on Friday, November 15th, with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
The game, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 16th, is being moved due to the possibility of Christopher Newport hosting as many as eight other athletic events on Saturday the 16th.
“By moving our football game to Friday night, we’ll be giving all of our student-athletes the best possible scenario for success,” Director of Athletics Kyle McMullin said. “The switch will also spread the spotlight to allow more of our programs to receive the attention they so richly deserve.”
Tickets and tailgating passes sold for the 16th will be honored on the 15th at TowneBank Stadium, and tailgating will begin at 1:00 p.m. Ticket sales at the stadium will begin at 4:00 p.m. and gates will open at 5:00 p.m. The CNU Ticket Office will be reaching out to fans who have already purchased tickets with more information in the near future.
The Captains are 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference. CNU will be hosting games the next two weekends at TowneBank Stadium, and this Saturday will play the final non-conference game of the year vs. Dickinson College. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
