
HAMPTON ROADS— Due to the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene felt across Western Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, many local organizations and groups here in Hampton Roads are stepping up to help those affected.
WYDaily is compiling a list of all donation efforts across the Hampton Roads area. This list will be added to as information becomes available.
- The Wes Strong Foundation is collecting items and monetary donations for wildlife rehabilitators in Western North Carolina. The foundation has set up an Amazon Wishlist and is accepting monetary donations through Venmo.
- Southern States in Gloucester is collecting items for humans and animals. Physical donations must be dropped off at the store no later than Oct. 11.
- Seaford Transfer is collecting items and monetary donations at its facility in Yorktown. Donations must be received by Oct. 10.
- The Williamsburg Moose Lodge is collecting items for South Hill, Virginia hurricane relief. All donations must be received by Oct. 16.
- Wolves in Wool Barbershop is collecting items through the Together We Can donation efforts. Drop-offs can be made at the shop and will be collected through Oct. 4 at noon.
- Against the Grain (Precarious Beer Project, Amber Ox Public House, The Bake Shop, and Cook’s Burger Bar) is collecting items on Oct. 4 and 5. Donors will be given a 10% discount for their generosity.
- HoneyButter’s Kitchen is collecting items at its Norge and Monticello Avenue locations. The donations boxes will be set up and accepting donations on a rolling basis.
- Williamsburg Presbyterian Church will be collecting items at its location on Oct. 4 from noon until 6:00 p.m. The pastor of the church is driving donations down.
- Great Clips in Williamsburg and Lightfoot are collecting food and supplies for victims in Virginia and North Carolina. A $2 off coupon for any service will be provided for donors.
- Williamsburg Realtors is collecting monetary donations for victims.
- Colonial Carts is collecting and refurbishing generators to donate to victims. The project is ongoing.
- Virginia Cardinal Cheer and Dance will be at the West Point Crab Carnival on Oct. 5. Members will be hosting a “Fill the Boot” drive.
- The Salvation Army Hampton Roads Area Command is responding to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, providing vital assistance to communities impacted by the storm. Monetary donations can be made through the Salvation Army’s Hurricane Support Efforts Donation Link.
