WILLIAMSBURG — William & Mary men’s basketball head coach Brian Earl announced the Tribe’s 2024-25 nonconference schedule on Monday. The 13-game ledger features five home contests, highlighted by a match-up with in-state rival Richmond, and five games against teams that played in the post season last year, including four league champions.
Season tickets for Tribe men’s basketball are now on sale at TribeAthletics.com.

W&M’s 11 Division I opponents during the non-conference slate averaged 18.5 wins and posted a winning % of 54.7. Along with the Richmond home game (Dec. 18), the schedule in Kaplan Arena features familiar foes in Norfolk State (Nov. 12) and Navy (Dec. 29). The road ledger includes trips to ACC Champion NC State (Nov. 22) and Sun Belt regular season Champion Appalachian State (Nov. 24) along with in-state match-ups at Old Dominion (Dec. 2) and VCU (Dec. 22).

The Tribe’s schedule kicks off with two of its first three games at home. W&M opens the season on Monday, Nov. 4, against Dickinson College inside Kaplan Arena. The Red Devils are a Division III program that competes in the Centennial Conference and is the alma mater of Tribe assistant coach Jimmy Fenerty. The teams previously met in 1975.

After its first road game at Radford on Friday, Nov. 8, the Green and Gold returns home on Tuesday, Nov. 12, against in-state foe Norfolk State. The teams meet for the fourth-straight season. Last year, the Spartans won the MEAC regular season Championship and took home the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament crown.

W&M will take part in a three-game multi-team exempt event at Winthrop, Nov. 15-17. The Rock Hill Classic will include W&M, the host Eagles, North Carolina Central and Georgia Southern. The Tribe and Winthrop last met in 2000, while it will be the program’s first contests against the other two schools.

The Tribe ends the month of November with a two-game trek to the state of North Carolina to face at pair of conference champions from a season ago. W&M squares off with 2024 Final Four participant NC State on Friday, Nov. 22, before traveling to reigning Sun Belt regular season Champion App State on Sunday, Nov. 24. The Green and Gold meets the Wolfpack for the second time in three years and travels to App State for the first time since 1976.

After a week off, the Tribe returns to action with four straight against teams from the state of Virginia. W&M travels to rival Old Dominion on Monday, Dec. 2, as the teams meet for the 52nd consecutive year. Last season, the Tribe topped the Monarchs, 84-79, in Williamsburg. Two days later, Dec. 4, W&M hosts Virginia University of Lynchburg for the second year in a row. They downed the Dragons, 99-50, in Kaplan Arena last season.

The Tribe’s home game with Richmond is set for Wednesday, Dec. 18. The series is W&M’s most played rivalry, featuring 203 games and dating back to 1912. The teams meet for the third-straight year as Tribe upended the Spiders, 58-57, in Williamsburg in 2022, while UR won at home last season.

W&M plays its second in a row against the Atlantic 10, traveling to VCU on Sunday, Dec. 22. It marks the first time the programs have met since the Rams left the CAA following the 2011-12 season. Last season, VCU played in the A-10 Championship Game and advanced to the NIT Quarterfinals.

The Tribe wraps up its non-conference slate at home against a former CAA counterpart in Navy on Sunday, Dec. 29. It is the fourth-straight season the teams have met.

Earl takes over a Tribe program that returns seven players from last season, including a trio of starters in Caleb DorseyGabe Dorsey, and Chase Lowe. In 2023-24, Earl led Cornell to its second-most wins in school history (22) and the program’s first NIT appearance. During the offseason, W&M added seven new players, including five transfers – Keller Boothby (Cornell), Kyle Frazier (Belmont Abbey), Finn Lally (Trinidad State), Malachi Ndur (Brown), and Kyle Pulliam (St. Thomas Aquinas) – and two freshmen – Ryan Jackson, Jr. and Isaiah Mbeng.
