WILLIAMSBURG — Incoming William & Mary men’s tennis freshman Oliver Hague will compete against the best juniors in the world, taking part in the Junior Wimbledon draw, beginning on Thursday, July 6.
Hague is one of 32 players competing in the qualifying draw. Two wins will earn him a spot in the main 64-player Junior Wimbledon Draw, which begins on July 8. Hague, who owns a career-high ITF world junior ranking of No. 339, will take on No. 8 seed Albert Saar in the opening round. Saar owns a career-high world junior ranking of No. 51 and is currently ranked No. 65 in the world.
Qualifying will take place at the Wimbledon Qualifying and Community Sports Centre, Roehampton. The match will be the second on ROE 15. The first match beginning at 10:30 a.m. local time in Wimbledon.
A native of Manchester, England, Hague will take part in his first career Junior Grand Slam event. He owns five career ITF doubles titles. He has also recorded a number of impressive career singles wins in junior play, including a three-set win over No. 74-ranked Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida of Brazil on grass in the Roehampton qualifying draw last week.
