Williamsburg Man Arrested for Shooting Vehicle, Residence in Gloucester County

GLOUCESTER COUNTY — A Williamsburg man was arrested on April 21 for a March 26 shooting incident in Gloucester County.

Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies were dispatched on March 26 to the 7500 block of Riverpark Road at 2:47 a.m. in regards to a shooting. An investigation revealed an altercation had taken place with multiple shots fired by a lone male suspect. A vehicle and an occupied residence had both sustained damage from the gunfire, but there were no injuries.

The GCSO Criminal Investigations Division was assigned to assist with the case after deputies collected witness statements and ballistic evidence. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Brandon Lee Briggs of Williamsburg.

Investigators were able to locate the suspect and executed a search warrant at the 100 block of Magruder Avenue in James City County on April 21 with assistance from the James City County Police SWAT Team and Criminal Investigations Unit. Briggs was taken into custody. Investigators recovered a loaded firearm at the scene.

Briggs has been charged with:

  • Two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon
  • Brandishing a firearm
  • Reckless handling of a firearm

The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office thanked the James City County Police Department for its assistance.

Briggs is currently being held without bond. This investigation remains active.
