HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Colleges and Universities continue to release Fall 2022 academic recognitions, and area students are making the grade.
Abigail Goodrich Named to Mississippi State University’s fall 2022 President’s List
Abigail Goodrich of Yorktown was named to the Mississippi State University fall 2022 President’s List.
Goodrich was among 4,174 students named to the fall 2022 President’s List. Students on the President’s List achieved a 3.80 or better grade-point average, based on a 4.0 scale, while completing at least 12 semester hours of course work with no incomplete grades or grades lower than a C.
Catherine Mejia of Yorktown named to University of Rhode Island Dean’s List
The University of Rhode Island announced that Catherine Mejia of Yorktown was named to its Fall 2022 Dean’s List.
To be included on the Dean’s List, full-time students must have completed 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable during a semester and achieved at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 or more credits for letter grades which are GPA applicable earning at least a 3.30 quality point average.
Thomas Wood Earns Dean’s List Honor at Lee University
Lee University congratulated Thomas Wood of Williamsburg on earning Dean’s List honors during the Fall 2022 semester.
Dean’s List recognition is earned by full-time, undergraduate students with a semester grade point average between 3.7 and 4.00.
Mackenzie Hammack of Yorktown Named to Bridgewater College’s Fall 2022 Dean’s List
Mackenzie Hammack of Yorktown was named to the 2022 fall semester Dean’s List at Bridgewater College. Hammack is majoring in Professional Writing and English at Bridgewater.
Hammack was among nearly 550 students named to the Dean’s List, which was announced by Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Leona A. Sevick.
Students on the Dean’s List have attained a 3.4 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0.
Justice Gilliard of Williamsburg awarded gold stars for fall 2022 at The Citadel
Justice Gilliard of Williamsburg was one of the more than 650 cadets and students recognized for their academic achievements during the fall 2022 semester.
Gold stars are awarded to cadets and students at The Citadel who achieved a 3.7 grade point average or higher. Cadets and students who achieve gold star recognition are also placed on The Citadel’s dean’s list.
Those cadets may wear gold stars on their uniforms throughout the semester following their academic achievement. A gold star recognition certificate is awarded to non-cadet students who meet the requirements; veteran and active duty students are also awarded challenge coins.
James Madison University announces fall 2022 graduates, honors graduates
James Madison University announced the following students who graduated with honors during the December 2022 commencement exercises.
- Jack Denkins, of Williamsburg, who graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Geography
- Ashton Longo, of Williamsburg, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Public Administration
- Sarah Foster, of Langley AFB, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Social Work
James Madison University also announced the following students who graduated during the December 2022 commencement exercises.
- Joseph Boyd, of Williamsburg, received a degree in Individualized Study
- Anne Buscher, of Williamsburg, received a degree in Communication Studies
- Benjamin Ellis, of Williamsburg, received a degree in Business Administration
- William Hammond, of Yorktown, received a degree in Anthropology
- Bryce Jobson, of Seaford, received a degree in Geography
- Max Poelker, of Yorktown, received a degree in Public Administration
