RICHMOND — After helping the No. 12/13 William & Mary football team earn a 34-24 victory against Furman on Saturday, redshirt freshman safety TJ McGill was selected as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
McGill posted four tackles, including three solo stops, broke up a pass and recorded his first career interception. The pick, which came during the fourth quarter at W&M’s 8-yard line, was returned 23 yards and helped W&M preserve a six-point lead.
The Charlotte, N.C., native has started all four games this season and totaled 19 tackles, an interception, three pass breakups and a TFL.
After concluding its non-conference slate with a 3-1 record, W&M will return to action when it opens its CAA schedule at home against Hampton at Zable Stadium on Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets are available at TribeAthletics.com.
