Small Plane Flips at Williamsburg Jamestown Airport

JAMES CITY COUNTY — A small plane flipped after encountering difficulties approaching the runway at Williamsburg Jamestown Airport Friday afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.

State police said they were called to investigate the incident at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Sept. 13

The pilot of the VANS RV Sport model airplane, Robert Walden of Fayetteville, Georgia, was able to get out of the plane but sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the state police. He was transported to Riverside Doctors’ Hospital in Williamsburg.

The Federal Aviation Administration was on the scene and the National Transportation Safety Board had been notified, state police said.
