WILLIAMSBURG — The City of Williamsburg announced it will host a series of Future Festivals to gather public input as part of its biennial Goals, Initiatives, and Outcomes (GIO) process.
The city said it will host seven festivals over two weeks where attendees will play games specifically designed to gather feedback to inform the development of the city’s work plan for the next two years.
The Future Festivals are scheduled for:
- Tuesday, Sept. 10: Bicentennial Park, 320 Court St.
- Wednesday, Sept. 11: Walsingham Academy, 1100 Jamestown Road
- Friday, Sept. 13: Crim Dell Meadow on William & Mary’s campus
- Monday, Sept. 16: Kiwanis Park, 125 Longhill Road
- Tuesday, Sept. 17: Highland Park, 703 N. Henry St.
- Wednesday, Sept. 18: Former DMV Site, 952 Capitol Landing Road
- Thursday, Sept. 19: Quarterpath Recreation Center, 202 Quarterpath Road
Each event is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. except the Sept. 13 festival on William & Mary’s campus, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to the city, every two years, the Williamsburg City Council identifies strategic objectives for the city government, and the GIO document is an expression of the City’s priorities. The Future Festivals are one of several public input opportunities as the City gathers feedback and data in its biennial strategic planning process to develop the 2025/2026 Goals, Initiatives, and Outcomes document:
- The National Community Survey, a biennial resident survey that gathers input on government services and measures the quality of life in the community, closed earlier this week.
- An online survey that asks GIO-specific questions will launch in September.
Resident feedback, along with outgoing GIOs, city council priorities, and city staff input inform the development of the GIOs, which then go before the city council for approval in November.
