Nashville Comes to New Kent with Cannon Country Fest at New Kent Winery

NEW KENT — A little bit of country is coming to New Kent on Saturday, Aug. 24 when the inaugural Cannon Country Fest — A Nashville to New Kent Experience presented by Cannon Country 107.9 and Porchlight Pickers takes the stage at New Kent Winery.

The event features number-one songwriter Clint Daniels, country duo Carvin Walls and rising country star Sam Banks, along with food trucks, wine and beer.

A BMI award-winning songwriter, Daniels has co-written Number One singles for Joe Nichols, Montgomery Gentry (“Roll With Me”) and most recently, Eric Church (“Some Of It”). Carvin Walls is a married country duo based out of Nashville. According to organizers, they will provide Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe experience, performing Daniels’s No. 1 hits for Nichols, Church, Brooks & Dunn and more.

Meanwhile, rising country star Banks will take attendees down to Broadway with a live country band experience backed by members of Toby Keith’s band. An unsigned songwriter, Banks had his first major label cut in 2020 with Craig Morgan, “Going Out Like This,” which appeared on the God, Family, Country album. Banks’ debut single as an artist entitled “Who’s Teachin’ Who” was released in June on all streaming platforms.

“We’re very excited to bring a piece of the thriving Nashville music scene to New Kent winery with top-tier writers such as Clint Daniels, Carvin Walls, and Sam Banks. We think it’s important to highlight the people behind the scenes who wrote some of the country music’s biggest hits and writing today’s current hits!,” said Tim Medlin of Porchlight Pickers.

“Partnering with Cannon Country is awesome because they play everything from the ’90s to today and our writers have had hits throughout that entire timeline,” he added. “Porchlight Pickers is hitting the road and we’re proud to have Cannon Country and New Kent be a part of our first stops as we continue to build the show and recognition throughout the region.”

Williamsburg’s Cannon Country 107.9FM launched in the spring and is owned by Local Daily Media, the parent company of WYDaily.

“We just launched Cannon Country in March of this year and it has been off to a great start. We have received feedback from all over and now are thrilled to start engaging Further with the community. We aspire for Cannon Country Fest to be an annual event that will bring the region together in the name of great music,” said Elisa Campana, Marketing & Events Director for Local Daily Media.

“The team at Porchlight has done a great job with the lineup. New Kent Winery and Talleysville Brewing Company is a stunning venue with vineyard views for days. Our team cannot wait to kick off this new event,” she added.

The winery will close at 4 p.m. the day of the event to prepare for the concert. Parking and gates for VIP guests will open at 4:30 p.m. General Admission gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the show will start at 6:30 p.m.
