(Tribe Athletics)

IRVING, Texas — After excelling both on the field and in the classroom, William & Mary football standouts Marcus Crowell, Malcolm Spencer and Will Whitehurst have been selected to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) 2024 Hampshire Honor Society.

The group of honorees is comprised of standout college football players from all divisions who completed their final year of eligibility and maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career.

A team captain, Crowell earned 22 career starts and was a fixture on the Tribe’s offensive line throughout his career. As a senior, he started all 11 games and helped W&M rank 13th nationally in rushing and was rated as the No. 4 guard in the CAA by PFF. In addition to garnering ADA Academic All-Star distinction in 2023, he earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll accolades every year of his career.

Spencer earned All-CAA honors as a senior after establishing himself among the conference’s top safeties. In addition to ranking fifth in the league in interceptions last fall, he finished his career with 128 tackles, five interceptions, 19 passes defended, 3.5 TFL, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. An outstanding student, he earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll accolades every year of his career.

A four-year starter, Whitehurst was one of the CAA’s top punters throughout his career and ranked second in the conference and ninth nationally in punting average (43.8) as a senior. The impressive figure ranks fourth on W&M’s single-season list. Whitehurst also excelled academically and earned CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll accolades multiple times.
