JAMES CITY COUNTY — A 19-year-old James City County woman is facing multiple felony charges after robbing the Citizens & Farmers Bank (C&F Bank) at 7534 Richmond Road Wednesday.
According to officials, on Jan. 24 at 5 p.m., James City County Police responded to a hold-up alarm at the bank. The suspect fled the scene on foot into the wooded area behind the bank before police arrived. After obtaining a detailed suspect description, a thorough search of the surrounding area began, police said. At 5:30 p.m., law enforcement located a pedestrian matching the suspect’s description near the Richmond and Croaker Roads intersection.
Police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Katherine Esposito of James City County.
According to police, Esposito entered the bank and handed an employee a note stating that the bank was being robbed and that she possessed a firearm and a bomb. After receiving thousands of dollars, Esposito then left the bank heading toward the woods, where police noted she was found and apprehended within thirty minutes of the robbery. The stolen cash was recovered.
Esposito was arrested and taken in for further questioning by James City County Police Detectives at the Law Enforcement Center, where she was formally charged with Robbery, Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, and Threats to Bomb or Damage Buildings — all felonies, police said. Esposito was denied bond and taken to Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
James City County Police commended the officers and detectives who investigated the crime and brought charges against the offender.
