WILLIAMSBURG — The Great Decisions lecture series, sponsored by the League of Women Voters-Williamsburg Area, is set to begin Feb. 6.
The series offers eight weekly lectures on Tuesday mornings through March 26, and registrants have the option each week of joining via Zoom or in person. In-person lectures will be held at the Williamsburg Regional Library’s auditorium at 10:30 a.m.
“The online registration process this year is much easier than in the past with a new host website that allows only a few short clicks to being completely registered,” said co chair Abra Smith. “Mail-in registration is also easy; just go to lwvwilliamsburg.org, click on the ‘Great Decisions’ box on the left-hand side of the page as you scroll down, click the ‘Register for Great Decisions’ box and then scroll down to ‘Register Offline & Pay by Check’ to retrieve the form to mail in with your check!”
“We have ample capacity remaining for anyone interested to join us,” Smith added.
The lecture series includes a briefing book created by the Foreign Policy Association. Registrants will be notified when and where the briefing books will be available for pickup.
While topics are chosen by the Foreign Policy Associations, Williamsburg’s speakers were recruited by LWV Great Decisions Chairperson Don Schilling.
Highlights include:
- Lawrence Wilkerson will talk about NATO’s Future on Feb. 13.
- Ellen Laipson will speak on Mideast Realignment on Feb. 27.
- Larry Williams will focus on Climate Technology and Competition on March 12.
