
HISTORIC TRIANGLE — Thanksgiving is Thursday, Nov. 23. Here is how local offices and services are impacted by the holiday.
James City County
According to James City County, offices, facilities, services, libraries and courts will observe the following schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday:
County Offices:
Closed Nov. 23 and 24.
James City County Recreation Center and Abram Frink Jr. Community Center:
Closed Nov. 23.
Parks:
All County parks are open year-round.
Park Stores and Guest Services Offices:
Closed Nov. 23 and 24.
Tewning Road, Jolly Pond Road and Toano Convenience Centers:
Closed Nov. 23.
Garbage Transfer Station:
Closed Nov. 23.
Curbside Recycling:
One day delay. Thursday’s recycling will be picked up on Friday, and Friday’s will be picked up on Saturday.
Libraries:
Closing at 5 p.m. Nov. 22. Closed Nov. 23 and 24.
Courts:
Closing at noon Nov. 22. Closed Nov. 23 and 24.
Williamsburg
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, City of Williamsburg said offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24, including the offices in the Municipal Building on Lafayette Street and Quarterpath Recreation Center.
The Williamsburg-James City County Courthouse on Monticello Avenue closes at noon Wednesday, Nov. 22 and is closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.
Waller Mill Park is closed on Thursday, Nov. 24. It will follow normal operating hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Friday, Nov. 25, the city said.
The holiday does not affect trash or recycling in the city. It is a Red Route Week for Residential Curbside Leaf Collection, and leaf collection will not occur on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25. To check whether your home receives leaf collection services and on which route, look up your address at williamsburgva.gov/leafcollection.

Those who need to pay a city bill when offices are closed can use the 24-hour bill payment drop box located at the front of the Municipal Building at 401 Lafayette St. for city transactions, and payments can be made online. The city cautions that dropbox payments made on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24 will not be posted until Monday, Nov. 27.
The city reminds residents that real estate and personal property tax bills for the period July 1-Dec. 31 are due Dec. 1.
York County
According to York County, government offices and courts will observe the following schedule for the Thanksgiving holiday:

All Waste Management operations are closed on Thursday, Nov. 23. The county said garbage and recycling collections scheduled for those dates will be delayed one day until all collections are completed on Saturday.
The VPPSA Compost Facility, Goodwin Neck Transfer Station and Citizen Drop-off for recycling and/or garbage disposal will follow normal operating hours on Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25, the county said.
