The start of summer means several exciting events hosted by the Greater Williamsburg Chamber of Commerce! From an abundance of upcoming ribbon cutting ceremonies to outdoor networking with the ASPIRE Young Professionals, the Chamber is offering many fun ways to stay connected and expand your professional network this season.
Chamber members enjoyed a sunny day at the 2023 Chamber Challenge Golf Tournament, presented by C&F Bank. It was a fantastic event at the Williamsburg National Golf Club filled with friendly competition, great networking, and a delicious Cinco de Mayo taco bar for lunch.
This school year’s final Pathways2Careers trip was hosted by HMP Properties at the Holiday Inn & Suites Williamsburg – Historic Gateway, where General Manager David Smith and his team shared a variety of career opportunities in the hospitality field. Students learned about hotel operations, sales and marketing, event planning, regional operations, front desk operations, and environmental services. Students toured the property with several department heads, participating in hands-on activities for booking reservations, front desk operations, and quality control.
Then, on May 25th, members gathered at The Drying Co./ThermalTec for the Chamber’s signature Business After Hours networking event, co-hosted by The Junkluggers of Williamsburg. Attendees enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and beverages, plenty of networking with local business professionals, and tunes courtesy of WMBG Radio.
Up next, the Chamber invites its members and the community to attend the 2023 Annual Meeting & Business Awards, to be held on Thursday, June 22nd from 4 to 6 PM at Kingsmill Resort. In addition to celebrating the past year and passing the gavel to the incoming Board Chair, the event will recognize the Small Business of the Year, Early Stage Business of the Year, Home-Based Business of the Year, and more. The event is sponsored by Uptown Alley, and you may register online to attend.
The ASPIRE Young Professionals are thrilled to host the next event in their Summer Social Series, encouraging young professionals to get into the community, make new connections, and explore all that greater Williamsburg has to offer. The next event in the series invites young professionals to a Networking Picnic at Veterans Park on Wednesday, June 14th from 12 to 1:30 PM. A boxed lunch, networking, and lawn games are included. Plus, attendees will enjoy ice cream courtesy of Ben & Jerry’s Williamsburg! Register online to attend.
Nominations are open for the Health Promoter of the Year Award! Created by the Chamber’s Health Committee, the Health Promoter Award honors an individual or organization that goes above and beyond to create opportunities for their employees and/or our community to make healthy choices.
