WILLIAMSBURG— Yogi Bear and all his friends have officially arrived in Williamsburg as the region’s first Camp Jellystone opens.

Camp Jellystone in Williamsburg is a family-friendly campground inspired by the beloved cartoon character Yogi Bear. The park offers themed cabins, RV sites, and tent camping, along with a variety of activities for kids and families, including splash pads, mini-golf, nature trails, and seasonal events.

Located at the site of the old Williamsburg Campground, renovations have been ongoing since the winter. Joseph Sabold, Camp Jellystone Williamsburg general manager, spoke with WYDaily about the park prior to opening.

“Northgate Resorts acquires campgrounds and when this one became available, we thought it would be a good move to improve our portfolio. It’s centrally located, and we want to be a place where people can enjoy all the parks, battlefields, and history that this area has to offer,” Sabold said.

Accommodations at the campground range from fully equipped glamping cabins with all the comforts of home featuring heat, air conditioning, comfy queen beds with linens, as well as microwaves and refrigerators. RVers can choose between a variety of full hook-up sites including pull through and big rig friendly options, some with patios. There also are tent sites.

Attractions at the location include three pools. On April 3, the heated pool and splashpad will open. Spring will also see the return of the jumping pillows, disc golf, gem mining, basketball, playgrounds, hiking on nature trails, and organized fun in the activity room.

Kids and adults will also enjoy the addition of laser tag, an extensive schedule of branded Jellystone Park activities, a new food truck and golf cart rentals. The pet-friendly resort features a dog park and pet wash, as well as a camp store.

“I’m very excited because we’re bringing an original style campground to the area. It caters to the guests as soon as they come in. We’re setting up an environment where a family can come and enjoy themselves and not have to worry about the menial things. You can do everything without leaving here but if you want to, you can explore the Historic Triangle and still enjoy it. We want to be a part of making those lifetime memories for families and kids,” Sabold said.

The park’s reservation system is online and accepting new stay requests now.

During peak season, the site will offer themed events and weeks. Kicking off the grand opening celebration in March is “Wake Up Yogi Bear” which entails a morning parade, a dance party, and meet and greet with Yogi and all his friends. Event information for the remainder of the season can be found here.

The park plans to be fully operational by May 2026. For more information on Camp Jelleystone Williamsburg, visit campjellystone.com/virginia/jellystone-park-williamsburg.
