Virginia Chamber of Commerce Names Vick as Incoming President and Chief Executive Officer

Cathie J. Vick (Virginia Chamber of Commerce)

RICHMOND — The Virginia Chamber of Commerce recently announced the appointment of Cathie J. Vick as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) after a national search.

Vick will assume her position on April 1, succeeding Barry DuVal, who has served as the leader of the Virginia Chamber since 2010, it said. The Board of Directors has named DuVal as Senior Advisor to Vick and the Board for the remainder of 2025.

“We are very pleased to announce Cathie as the incoming President & CEO of the Virginia Chamber,” said 2025 Virginia Chamber Chair Linda Stanley. “Having served on the Blueprint Virginia Executive Committee and the Virginia Chamber Board of Directors, Cathie is passionate about the Chamber’s mission, and I look forward to working with her on the development of Blueprint Virginia 2035 this year.”

Alan Witt, chair of the search committee, said Vick was chosen “in a rigorous and comprehensive selection process from a strong field of candidates.”

Vick currently serves as the Vice President of Corporate & Government Affairs at toll-road operator Transurban, according to the Virginia Chamber. Prior to that, she served as Chief Development & Public Affairs Officer at the Port of Virginia for a decade, where she worked with elected and appointed officials at all levels of government and partner organizations to drive economic growth for the commonwealth.

“Cathie has built an impressive career dedicated to public policy, advocacy, government relations, and corporate strategy within the infrastructure, transportation, and energy sectors,” shared DuVal. “We’d like to thank Alan Witt and the entire search committee for their diligence in this process. We’re enthusiastic about Cathie’s strong, proven track record of successfully leading teams and initiatives that drive economic development for the Commonwealth.”

Vick holds bachelor’s degrees, magna cum laude, in both communications and political science from James Madison University; a juris doctor, with honors, from Georgia State University College of Law; and a master’s degree in business administration, with honors, from William & Mary Raymond A. Mason School of Business, according to the Virginia Chamber.

“I am excited for the opportunity to lead the work of the Virginia Chamber and its colleagues to serve our members and drive economic prosperity in the Commonwealth,” said Vick. “I am fully committed to advancing the Chamber’s mission as the Commonwealth’s Voice for Business and am enthusiastic about working with the team to build on the tremendous momentum established under Barry’s leadership over the past decade.”
