WILLIAMSBURG — Merchant Square’s Blackbird Bakery and La Piazza flipped signs to close for the last time on March 31 following farewell social media posts over the weekend.
Blackbird Bakery announced on social media March 29 that it would be closing its doors on Sunday.
“We are thankful and so fortunate to have such amazing customers who have supported us the last ten years,” the business said in its farewell post on Facebook. “It’s been a great pleasure to serve the Williamsburg community and we’re embracing the wonderful memories we created together.”
La Piazza made a similar announcement on March 31 saying it had made the difficult decision to close its doors.
“Thank you to all who dined with us over the years. We really appreciate all of the support and encouragement! It’s been a great pleasure to serve the Williamsburg community and we’re embracing the wonderful memories we created together,” La Piazza said on its social media post.
Both businesses are owned by chef David Everett. In addition to La Piazza and Blackbird Bakery, Everett also owns DoG Street Pub and Blue Talon Bistro. Both remain open.
