WILLIAMSBURG — Customized, one-on-one assisted stretching service StretchLab plans to open a Williamsburg location next month.

StretchLab offers services to help with such things as pain relief, flexibility, range of motion, injury prevention and posture. Services are available to all ages and body types.

“We use a specific technique that’s called Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation with the assisted stretching that we do,” explained franchise owner, Jason Halloran.

The National Library of Medicine describes Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) as a stretching technique utilized to improve muscle elasticity that has been shown to have a positive effect on active and passive ranges of motions.

“Not only are we working on your flexibility and range of motion, you’re also working on the strengthening of those muscle connective tissues,” Halloran added.

“I personally have had three severe injuries due to lack flexibility, range of motion, and lack of strength at those muscle connectivity points,” Halloran explained about his involvement with StretchLab. “To me, this is a passion to help educate the community on the need and importance of flexibility and range of motion to prevent injuries. Because I don’t want anyone to go through what I’ve been through.”

Keeping true to wanting to educate the community, StretchLab has already teamed up with several non-profits and done charity events from pickleball tournaments, golf tournaments, and running events. The stretching service welcomes engagement from the community where it can help compliment businesses.

Halloran lives in Charlottesville, where there is also a StretchLab studio, where he noted each week members are helped achieve their goals from being able to put on their shoes to running marathons quicker to living without pain.

The StretchLab location in Williamsburg will be located on 5226 Monticello Ave. in Settler’s Market. It has memberships available for pre-sale and a goal of opening next month. A free 15 minute demo stretch can be scheduled by calling 757-933-1763 or by emailing williamsburg@stretchlab.com. The temporary studio is located at 4640 Casey Blvd., Suite 1435.
