Williamsburg craft-brew fans and outlet shoppers will soon have a new place to sample pale ales and porters, a local brewer said Thursday.

Alewerks Brewing Co., 197B Ewell Rd., is adding a satellite tasting room at the Williamsburg Premium Outlets, according to a release.

The 3,000-square-foot new space will combine a three-barrel on-site micro-brewing facility with ten Alewerks beers on tap, bottle beer, high-top seating and retail space.

It’s scheduled to open this summer and comes after extended consideration of opening a second location, the release said.

“This expansion allows us to reach an audience that might not gravitate towards Alewerks or craft beer,” Managing Director and Brewmaster Geoff Logan said in the release. “And for those who do know and love craft beer, this location will be a great place to learn, grab a beer, and decide which six-pack you want to bring home after a long day of shopping.”

Alewerks will maintain its existing taproom and main brewery for new releases, community events and entertainment, the release said.

The new facility will focus on small-batch brewing, collaborations and event-related beers. It will also have snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

“The system is a long-awaited playground for us as brewers,” Logan said.
