YORKTOWN — Americans just wrapped up celebrating their Independence Day, and now Yorktown residents will join with friends in France as they celebrate Bastille Day.

Sister Cities Yorktown is hosting a wine tasting on the French holiday with members of its sister city, Port-Vendres in France.

Yorktown has been a sister city of Port-Vendres since 1990. Chartered by Sister Cities International, the partnership fosters respect, understanding and peace between the two countries.

Bastille Day is July 14, and commemorates the storming of the fortress and political prison named the Bastille, which was a seminal event in the French Revolution.
