Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Williamsburg area

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of eastern Virginia, including Williamsburg and James City and York counties.

The watch expires at 8 p.m.

The weather service says showers and thunderstorms are possible between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., after which skies are expected to become partly cloudy. The chance of showers is 60 percent.
