Six more people are charged in what police have described as a gang shooting at the Crust restaurant last month.
Just before 1 a.m. on Aug. 27, shots were fired outside Crust, which is located in the 200 block of Richmond Road.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to witnesses, who reported that several shots were fired outside the restaurant. The incident occurred just after two groups of people were leaving, following an altercation inside the restaurant, according to a news release from the Williamsburg Police Department.
One person was injured by a round and was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital in Newport News for a non-life threatening injury
While accused shooter, 22-year-old John Lee Johnson of Newport News, turned himself into police on Sept. 14, an investigation showed that several other people were also involved in the shooting, said Maj. Greg Riley of the Williamsburg Police Department.
“I can’t really go into particulars,” Riley said. “I do believe (the shooting) was a random situation… but there’s a history between these two groups that lead to the altercation.”
On Sept. 19 police got warrants for six other people.
Travis David-Mark Campbell, 26, Jamel John Young Jr., 23, Dominique Lamar Wallace, 23, Kajoun Devante Johnson, 22 and Eric Ronald Anthony James, 24, are charged with gang participation and maiming by mob. All are from James City County, except Wallace who lives in Williamsburg, Riley said.
A sixth person, 28-year-old Malik Cory Brown of James City County, is also charged with gang participation, Riley said.
Everyone has been arrested except for Campbell.
