Virginia Beach and Norfolk schools and roads were closed after high water hit the area Wednesday, Sept. 21.
According to the City of Virginia Beach, the area got between 7.9 and 13.16 inches of rainfall between 12:01 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19 and 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. The southern part of the city saw the most rain, data shows.
As of this morning, the following roads were closed:
Dam Neck Road: Corporate Landing to London Bridge
Elbow Road: Salem to Round Hill
Indian River Road: West Neck to Princess Anne
Rosemont Road: Bow Creek to Old Forge
Princess Anne: Holland to Seaboard
Other flooding areas include Asheville Park, I-264 ramps at South Independence and Witchduck, College Park area and Level Green area.
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach Wednesday that will end at 5 p.m.
