Virginia Beach residents have two chances to weigh in this week on short-term online rentals, such as Airbnb.
The city opened an online survey to residents last week, asking for opinions on the rentals; the survey closes Sept. 28. On Monday, the city made a reminder announcement that residents also have the opportunity for in-person public comment this week. A city-appointed ad hoc committee, which is meeting this month to discuss the rentals and come up with recommendations to council, is holding a public hearing Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. in the city council chamber at City Hall, 2401 Courthouse Dr.
“This is an issue that impacts neighborhoods all over the city,” Julie Hill, communications administrator for the city, said in a phone interview. “So we want to give as many people the opportunity to participate as they would like.”
