
Southern Bank, made up of Norfolk-based Heritage Bank and Southern Bank, appointed Charles Malbon Jr. chairman of its Hampton Roads regional advisory board. Michael Goodove, a partner in the Norfolk law firm Swartz, Taliaferro, Swartz & Goodove, was named vice chairman.
Malbon is president of Tank Lines Inc., a real estate and transportation firm, and served as vice chairman of the Heritage Bankshares Inc. board of directors, according to a release. He also serves on Virginia Beach’s Bayfront Advisory Committee and is president of the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad Foundation.


Gourmet sandwich shop TASTE Unlimited will offer live music on the lawn once again at its 4097 Shore Drive location. The City Council last week approved the restaurant’s request for a permit allowing outdoor performances. TASTE hosted acoustic bands two summers ago but halted the concerts after learning the restaurant’s business permit didn’t allow live music. The free music performances, “Live on the Lawn,” are expected to run on Fridays in the summer. The permit allows the concerts to go until 9 p.m.

Gold Key | PHR, the restaurant and hotel management company, partnered with local Cullipher Farm and Eventide Oysters, to bring local ingredients to its restaurants, including Catch 31, Salacia, Lager Heads and Mahi Mah’s.
Cullipher Farm will harvest a 5-acre farm at 1065 First Colonial Road exclusively for Gold Key’s restaurants. Eventide Oysters is dedicating a bed large enough to supply the restaurants with Lynnhaven oysters.
