The York County Republican committee has honored Pastor Deloris Borum, the founder of the NATASHA House, with its Citizen Award.
Borum now serves as the board director of the safe place and transitional residence for homeless women and children. NATASHA stands for “New Alternative Toward A Secure Home Atmosphere,” and Yorktown center offers counseling, financial education and outreach programs to residents on the road to stability.
After years in the making, NATASHA house opened in fall 2010.
The York County Republican committee praised Borum for her volunteer service without government funding during the Sept. 3 opening celebration of the Republican Victory Headquarters on George Washington Boulevard.
U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, state Sen. Tommy Norment (R-3), and Dels. Brenda Pogge (R-96) and Gordon Helsel (R-91) were in attendance.
