A senior at Williamsburg Christian Academy recently received the “Outstanding Participant” honor in the National Achievement Scholarship Program.
Brian Williams scored in the top 3 percent among 160,000 black American students who took the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. He took the test to be considered for the 2014 National Achievement Program.
The program, according to its website, is an “academic competition established in 1964 to provide recognition for outstanding Black American high school students.”
As a result of receiving the honor, Williams’ name will be referred to U.S. colleges and universities as an outstanding student with a potential for success.
“Brian Williams has been an asset to WCA in setting the bar of academic and athletic excellence high for himself and his peers,” said Head of School Gwen Martin. “We are very proud of his accomplishments and can’t wait to see him continue to soar.”
