Making the decision about whether to move yourself or a loved one to an assisted living facility is tough, which is why the Senior Services Coalition is offering a free forum on the topic this Thursday.
The talk, titled “Does Spring Mean Change to You: The Most Important Questions to Ask if You or a Loved One is Considering Moving to an Assisted Living Facility,” will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in Room A of the James City/Williamsburg Community Center at 5301 Longhill Road.
The purpose of the forum is to educate seniors and their adult children about assisted living facilities and helping them learn what questions to ask when considering move to such a facility. Speakers will include Lana Wingate, RN and geriatric care manager.
Speakers will discuss the initial medical assessment; the various levels of care and why it is important to determining the best fit; and the legal definition of assisted living, which will explain what every facility must provide clients and what is optional.
Before and after the event, attendees will have an opportunity to browse the exhibit area to learn more about local assisted living facilities such as Chambrel, Morningside and Spring Arbor.
The free event is open to the public and begins with registration and refreshments at 6 p.m. For more information call the Senior Services Coalition at 220-3480.
