Event: Michelangelo Exhibit: Sacred and Profane
Location: Muscarelle Museum of Art (William and Mary Campus)
Date and Time: February 9-April 14
The Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William & Mary is pleased to present the most important Michelangelo show seen in the USA in decades. Twenty-six original drawings by Michelangelo will be showcased in the exhibition “Michelangelo: Sacred and Profane Masterpiece Drawings from the Casa Buonarroti,” opening February 9, 2013 at the Muscarelle. The landmark exhibition is being organized in honor of the thirtieth anniversary of the foundation of the museum in 1983. The purpose of the new exhibition is to investigate the artist’s innermost philosophy as revealed in his original, often astonishingly beautiful, drawings.
The Muscarelle Museum of Art is located on Jamestown Road on the campus of The College of William & Mary. During this exhibition, there is an admission fee of $15.00. Admission is free for Museum members, The College of William & Mary faculty, staff, and students, as well as children under twelve. The Museum is closed on Mondays.
