WILLIAMSBURG — Following an impressive performance in Saturday’s dual meet against Navy, the William & Mary men’s gymnastics team continued its climb in the national rankings this week and moved up to No. 10.
The Tribe currently owns a four-score average of 309.367 and is close behind No. 9 California (310.567) and No. 8 Navy (311.55). The top 12 teams will qualify for the NCAA Championships in mid-April.
W&M has posted its top three scores this season during its last three meets, which includes victories at Springfield (313.5) and Simpson (310.15) as well as a narrow setback versus Navy (311.8).
In addition to the lofty team ranking, a number of Tribe standouts have also established themselves among the nation’s best in various events. Luke Tully currently ranks fourth in the country in all-around (73.883), T19th on floor (13.4) and 20th on high bar (13.2), while Evan Wilkins is T14th on floor (13.5) and Sam Lee is T17th on vault (13.933). Additionally, Zachary Patrick is tied for 18th on parallel bars (13.2).
W&M will return to action when it hosts top-ranked Oklahoma and No. 11 Greenville for Senior Day at Kaplan Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m.
