DANBURY, Conn. – After helping lead the William & Mary men’s gymnastics team to a victory at Simpson last Sunday, sophomore standout Evan Wilkins was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) gymnast of the week.
The honor marks the second time this season Wilkins has garnered the distinction, while it is the third consecutive week in which a Tribe gymnast has earned the conference’s top weekly honor.
En route to helping W&M post its second-best team total this season in the win at Simpson, Wilkins won a pair of individual event titles — high bar (13.1) and rings (13.2). Additionally, he placed second on floor (13.3). He shared the rings title with teammate Niko Greenly.
The Franklin, Tenn., native currently ranks second in the ECAC on floor (13.683) and rings (13.317), while his floor score is 13th nationally. Additionally, he ranks fifth in the conference on parallel bars (13.15).
Having posted its best scores of the season during the last two outings, W&M will look to continue the momentum when it hosts Navy at Kaplan Arena on Saturday at 2 p.m. The meet will be a double dual with the women’s team, which is hosting Penn.
