
RICHMOND — William & Mary sophomore Sofia Istnick was named the CAA Runner of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Istnick led the Tribe at the Spider Alumni Open, placing fourth in the 180-runner field. She covered the 4K course in 13:43.2 to lead W&M to a second-place finish among 16 teams. The Tribe edged No. 11 Georgetown by a point, 75-76, in finishing just behind No. 11 Virginia.
The Massillon, Ohio native was the CAA Rookie of the Year last season. She earned All-CAA honors with a top-10 finish at the league championships and led W&M with a 44th-place showing at the NCAA Southeast Region Championships.
The Tribe returns to action in two weeks, competing at the adidas XC Challenge in Raleigh, N.C., and the CNU XC Invitational in Newport News, Va. Both events will be on Friday, Sept. 15.
