A first-half goal from Grace Hoepfner helped hand Grafton its first win of the 2015 season during a hard-fought 1-0 road victory against Midlothian on Monday night.
A back-and-forth first half eventually gave way to the Clippers earning a penalty corner. The corner was taken by senior Sydnie Swartwood and was finished home by Hoepfner for the go-ahead goal.
“It was a pretty evenly played game,” Grafton Head Coach Brooke Feiner said. “We just capitalized on a good opportunity.”
Holding a 1-0 halftime advantage over the hosts, Grafton was able to prevent Midlothian from finding an equalizing goal in the second half.
The win marks Grafton’s (1-1) first of the season and puts the Clippers in a good position moving forward into their next game, which will not be played until Sept. 10 when the Clippers are scheduled to host Menchville at 4 p.m.
