Tabb running back Brent Hinson and Coach Matt Lawson, who led the Tigers to a 7-4 overall record and No. 8 seed in the 4A South Region playoffs, have received top honors on the All-Conference 19 football team.
Hinson was the Bay Rivers District’s second leading rusher this season with 1,573 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to earning conference Offensive Player of the Year honors. Powhatan’s Elijah Good was selected the Defensive Player of the Year.
Lawson earned the distinction of Coach of the Year.
As a team, the Tigers put six in the all-conference first team to lead all other area teams as Hinson was joined by center Matt Staul, linemen Mark Youker and Casey Evans and receiver/linebacker Antwuan Hicks.
Other area players to receive first-team honors were of offensive lineman Brady Pope, tight end/linebacker Braxton Miller, defensive lineman Orlando McCoin and quarterback Tyler Doane of Jamestown, as well as defensive lineman Matt Watts, defensive back Tyrell Noel, punter Justin Hurst, and all-purpose selections Bryan Mitchell and Jadon Goodman of Grafton.
