The Virginia High School League finalized the points of its new playoff system over the weekend and announced the first-round pairings Sunday.
Times and dates of this week’s games have yet to be determined, but the one thing we know for sure is six Bay Rivers District teams are in: Tabb (7-3) and Jamestown (5-5) in Region 4A South; Lafayette (10-0), Poquoson (7-3) and York (4-6) in Region 3A East; and Bruton (7-3) in Region 2A East.
Tabb entered the final week of the regular season ranked No. 9 in Region 4A South, but moved up to No. 8 following the Tigers’ 27-21 over Grafton last Friday. That earned Tabb a first-round home game along with fellow district members Lafayette and Poquoson, seeded No. 1 and No. 6, respectively, in Region 3A East, as well as Bruton, ranked No. 5 in Region 2A East.
Below are the pairings for first-round games for the matchups that include Bay Rivers District teams.
