It was a night of 3-0 sweeps in the Bay Rivers District as Lafayette and Warhill extend winning streaks to four games, Grafton ends two-game skid, and more.
Grafton def. New Kent 25-20, 25-17, 25-2
Kendall Mahony accounted for three of Grafton’s 12 blocks to go along with 10 kills, four digs and three aces as Grafton ended a two-game skid by sweeping visiting New Kent in three games Thursday. Christa Hall added 27 assists and a pair of blocks and Sophia Beaudoin finished with nine kills, six digs and four aces for the third-place Clippers, who improved to 9-3 in district play with the victory.
Lafayette def. Tabb 25-17, 25-14, 25-17
Lafayette’s Kiersten Langerud tallied nine kills, five aces and four blocks and Julia Howard finished with 25 assists and nine digs as the Rams (9-4, 8-4 BRD) swept Tabb 3-0 on the road for their fourth win in a row Thursday. Alyssa Alpino contributed nine digs and a pair of aces in the effort.
Warhill def. Bruton 25-14, 25-19, 25-16
Warhill won its fourth game in a row on the road against Bruton on Thursday night. Alex Koon led the Lions (13-3, 9-2 BRD) with 16 kills, seven digs and three aces and Megan Harrigan added six kills, four digs and two aces. Shalya Hilian led Bruton (5-11, 3-9 BRD) with a pair of aces, four kills and three blocks.
Jamestown def. Smithfield 25-12, 25-14, 25-10
Kelly Esch led the way with 14 kils, 12 digs, seven aces and one block as Jamestown cruised past Smithfield in three games Thursday. Monique St. Cyr chipped in with 13 assists and five blocks for the undefeated Eagles (15-1, 12-0 BRD) while Maddie Spence added six aces.

Hampton Roads Academy def. Norfolk Collegiate 25-8, 25-5, 25-13
Laura Killough recorded 17 digs, Leanna Yevak finished with 16 assists and Kellyn DeChirico added 12 kills as Hampton Roads Academy defeated Norfolk Collegiate in three sets Thursday. The Navigators (16-6, 4-1 TCIS) also got a solid all-around effort from Bri Underwood, who posted seven digs, seven kills and six aces.
