LPGA Kingsmill Championship Tees Off Today

One hundred and forty four of the world’s top female golfers will be in action today as the LPGA Kingsmill Championship gets underway Thursday morning on Kingsmill’s River Course.

Among those participating this weekend are 48 of the top 50 players on the Official LPGA Tour Money List, including world No. 1 Inbee Park, top-ranked American Stacy Lewis and defending tournament champion Jiyai Shin, who outlasted Paula Creamer in an epic nine-hole sudden-death playoff to win last September’s Championship.

Joining the field will be Amelia Lewis, 22, and Alexandra Casi, 28, who were the top two finishers in Monday’s qualifying round. Casi will be making her second-straight appearance at the Kingsmill Championship after earning a spot in last September’s tournament through a Monday qualifier as well.

With the tournament now returning to its original spring schedule – it was held annually in May before taking a three-year absence in 2009 – combined with a surplus of renown talent participating, tournament staff are anticipating a possible record turnout this weekend.

The first groups of players scheduled to tee off Thursday are slated to do so at 7:30 a.m. Click here for a complete listing of Thursday’s tee times.
