Williamsburg Christian Academy’s reign as Metro Conference girls basketball champs continues.
The Eagles clinched their fourth-consecutive conference title Tuesday night following a 68-32 rout of second-place Portsmouth Christian. The victory also marked the fourth-straight year in which WCA completed the regular-season a perfect 16-0 in conference play.
The Eagles, who have been a fixture atop the VISAA Division II state poll all season long, were led by Stephanie Seaman and Lynn Dunn, who scored 12 points apiece. Point guard Tonika Pierce also became the third player on WCA’s roster to reach 1,000 points for her career, finishing with 11 in the win. Senior Ashley Cunningham chipped in with 10.
The Eagles (26-7) will be the No. 1 seed in next week’s Metro Conference tournament before embarking on their second-consecutive VISAA state title.
