The Score: Grafton’s Wilson Nets 1,000th Career Point in Clippers’ Victory

Olivia Wilson became the fifth player in Grafton High girls’ basketball history to score 1,000 career points after netting a game-high 29 points in the Clippers’ 82-26 win over Bruton Tuesday.

Wilson needed just 17 to reach the 1,000-point plateau. She was one of five Clippers to finish in double figures along with Emily Beyer (13 points), Bri Daniels (12 points), Renee Roe (10 points) and Hannah Olson (10 points).

Grafton improved to a Bay Rivers District best 12-0 with the victory.

Tabb notched its finest win of the season Tuesday after upsetting second-place Poquoson on the road. Shanteyah Holder scored 16 points to lead the Tigers (6-6 BRD) and Imani Jarmon added 10. Sydney Turner finished with 17 to lead Poquoson (9-3 BRD), which dropped three games back of district-leading Grafton.

Smithfield 38  Lafayette 28

In a battle of three-loss teams to decide third place in the Bay Rivers District, Smithfield (8-3 BRD) overcame a defensive struggle to beat host Lafayette (7-4 BRD) behind Jackie Jordan’s 14 points. Indyah Brown paced the Rams  with 12. FULL STORY

Jamestown 32  York 27

After a sluggish first half, Jamestown rallied from a third-quarter deficit to beat host York on the road. The Eagles are tied with Lafayette for fourth place in the Bay Rivers District at 8-4 heading into Thursday’s matchup with 9-3 Poquoson.
