NORFOLK — Ticket sales have opened for the award-winning Dominion Energy Garden of Light Show, coming to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens Nov. 11 through Jan. 1 to celebrate the holiday season.
The show for this year is titled “Garden of Light: Walk the Garden Aglow” and is the 29th show at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
The show is part of the garden’s nonprofit mission, with all the ticket sales proceeds going back into the gardens and funding its various education programs. Additionally, the lights for the walk are all set up and assembled by the garden’s staff — no outside company is hired to set up the display.
“Each year the light crew tries to outdo themselves. They add more than even they expect to add, so I’m pretty excited to see the show myself actually,” said Kelly Welsh, Marketing and Communications Director for the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.
The show, and even the garden itself, is run with 100% renewable energy, as part of the garden’s mission of caring for the environment. All of the lights used in the show are LED to help save on energy, as well. The Dominion Energy Garden of Lights has been named a winner in the USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Botanical Garden Holiday Lights for multiple years.

The show opens on Nov. 11 and will run through Jan. 1, with nightly shows from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event route is approximately one mile long, and though it is a walking event, it is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and mobility assistance devices. A limited number of manual wheelchairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the visitor center.
Ticket prices vary depending on the night reserved and are separate from the price of regular admission to the gardens. It is recommended to purchase tickets ahead of time online, but it is possible to purchase tickets at the door for an additional charge.
