Patricia Hall Stroud, 83, died peacefully at her home in Virginia Beach on April 5, 2026.
Born Dorothy Patricia Hall to Carl & Jewell Hall in Lubbock, TX on July 11,1942, Pat grew up in Dallas until her family moved to Virginia Beach when she was a teenager.
Pat graduated from Virginia Beach High School, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Norfolk State where she obtained her Masters in Social Work.
Pat specialized in family therapy with a particular emphasis on supporting women and children. She started her career at the city’s social services agency Travellers Aid International, later working at Comprehensive Mental Health and the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters before concluding her career in private practice.
In the early ‘80s, before Starbucks, there was Hardee’s, where Pat first crossed paths with Roger Stroud during the weekday morning rush of people grabbing coffee on their way to work. Their courtship was swift, Pat “just knew”, and in 1985 they married. The last 41 years were especially happy ones for Pat, and she would often express how lucky she felt to have him by her side.
Pat enjoyed golf, painting, playing cards, crossword puzzles, Callawassie Island, dinner parties and travels with close friends, as well as taking care of the love of her life, Roger.
She is survived by her husband Roger Stroud, sister Carol Zurier (Robert), her children Tracy Gevedon (Stephen) and Mike Folck (Vinita), and their father Michael Folck, stepchildren Natalie Stroud and Jonathan Stroud (Evalyn), grandchildren Kiran Folck, Jaya Folck, Meika Gevedon, Elijah Stroud and Olivia Stroud, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Pat’s hospice care team from Wings Over Virginia: Alice Buchanan, Oli Lleces, Likita Green, and Donya Winters.
A celebration of life with family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
