Brian Keith Cheek, 56, of Williamsburg, Virginia, passed away on March 26, 2026. He was born on June 2, 1969, in Hampton, Virginia.
Brian worked at the Surry Power Plant and was known for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature. All of his coworkers called him ‘Sarge’. He was a man who truly loved life and lived it to the fullest. Brian never met a stranger—he had a gift for making people smile and laugh, and his presence brought joy to those around him.
He had a deep love for Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers, as well as the Penguins and the Pirates. In his free time, Brian enjoyed fishing, hunting, and relaxing on his back porch.
Brian is survived by his devoted wife Tanya; his stepchildren Steven and Alorah; his father Richard Cheek/ Kellie, his sister Melissa Cheek and husband Jason; his brother Craig Cheek and his wife Sheri; his nephew Cameron Cheek; and his nieces and nephews, Amanda, Josh, Kaitlyn, and Brandon Doyle. His aunt and cousins. He is also remembered by his beloved dog, Snoopy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patsy Cheek.
Brian passed surrounded by love, with his wife and sister by his side. He loved his wife unconditionally, and that love was evident to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local SPCA in Brian’s memory, reflecting his love for animals.
The family would like to thank Virginia Oncology Associates, Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Clinic, Riverside Home Health, and Riverside Williamsburg Hospice for all their support during Brian‘s journey with cancer.
