Betsy R.S. Hemmingsen, 67, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Betsy was born on February 12, 1959, in Raleigh County, West Virginia, to the late David Clifton Soulsby and Carol Jo Sheets Soulsby.
Betsy devoted much of her life to helping others through her work in education. As a Special Education Assistant, she found deep purpose in supporting children who faced unique challenges. She had a natural patience and compassion that allowed her to connect with the students she worked with, offering encouragement, understanding, and a steady helping hand when it was needed most. For Betsy, even the smallest progress was something to celebrate. Her quiet dedication reflected her belief that every child deserved kindness, patience, and the opportunity to succeed.
Those who knew Betsy recognized her gentle spirit and her sincere desire to make the world a little brighter for others. Whether through her work with children or through simple acts of kindness, she carried a genuine heart for helping those around her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Carol Jo Soulsby and David Clifton Soulsby.
Betsy is survived by her children and extended loved ones who will carry her memory forward.
