Carol Anne Cousins, born on May 2, 1947, in Kingston, New York, passed away peacefully at her residence in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on February 26, 2026, at the age of 78.
Carol spent her early years in New York, where she worked as a bookkeeper at a local lumber yard. She later built a long and successful career as a claims adjuster with CMA CGM Shipping, dedicating more than twenty years of service.
Throughout her life, Carol found joy in simple pleasures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Each morning, she could be found at Panera Bread, starting the day with her favorite breakfast.
Carol is preceded in death by her beloved twin sister, Elaine Joyce Larson. She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Jennifer Mellin, and her husband Brian of Newburgh, New York; her son, Christopher Mellin, and his wife Sondra of Northern Virginia. She will be deeply missed by her cherished grandchildren, Megan Mellin-Hottle, Jessica Mellin, Andrew Scanlon, and Michael Scanlon, and her great-granddaughter, Olivia Mellin-Hottle.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences here.
Carol’s gentle spirit and loving presence will be remembered by all who knew her. She will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
