Linda Ray Prince Philbates, 84, of West Point passed away Wednesday morning, February 11, 2026.

She was the daughter of William Edward Prince and Lucille Crowe Prince. They lived in Tappahannock before moving to West Point, where Linda attended school.

Linda married Walter Philbates in 1960 and moved to New Kent before returning to West Point, where they lived and raised two daughters for 63 years. In the 1970’s, Walter, Linda, and her parents ran a small country store in town called the P&P Market. The job that she was most proud of was being a wife and mother. She was always taking care of the needs of her family.

Linda was a longtime member of the West Point Christian Church and most recently attended The Edge Worship Center. She was predeceased by her parents, Ed and Lucille; her husband, Walter; grandson, J.P. Edmonds and son-in-law, Dean Bush.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Edmonds and Mary Bush; two grandchildren, Tiffany Mitchell (Billy) and Justin Bush; two great-grandchildren, Ella Jane Edmonds and Kathryn Avery Mitchell; two brothers, Michael Prince (Jenny) and Chris Prince (Barbara); a sister-in-law, Ginger Smither; two nieces, Tammy Edwards (Bobby) and Holly Newsome (Brian); and four great nieces and nephews, Dusty and Emma Sparks and Melinda and Bob Edwards.

Services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, February 22, 2026 at West Point Christian Church, officiated by her dear friend and pastor, Cliff Collins. A reunion burial, as both Walter and Linda will be interred together, will take place at a later date in Smyrna Christian Church in Powcan.
